MEET THE FACE BEHIND GABLE GLOW
Hi, I’m Amalia Travis. Welcome to Gable Glow.
I spent 8 years moving through rentals and small apartments, chasing the same thing you probably are: a home that actually feels like mine, without the drilling, the overspending, or the landlord’s list of rules. Gable Glow is everything I wish I’d found sooner.

Her Story
Four apartments. Three cities. Not one of them let me touch the walls.
Every move brought the same problem: a blank space, a strict lease, and a budget that never stretched as far as the decor blogs made it look. I’d search for ideas online and find beautiful rooms full of paint colors I couldn’t use and furniture I couldn’t afford. Nothing was built for someone actually living in a small rental on a real budget.
So I started figuring it out myself. Command strips instead of nails. Thrifted finds instead of full-price furniture. Layout tricks that made a 500 square foot apartment feel like an actual home. Gable Glow grew out of that, one apartment, one budget, and one small win at a time.
What I Believe
Your space doesn’t need to be big to feel finished. Small square footage isn’t a limitation to work around, it’s just a starting point.
Renting shouldn’t mean settling. Every idea here skips the drilling, the painting, and anything that could cost you your deposit.
Good style shouldn’t require a big budget. Real, workable decor beats an aspirational room you can’t actually recreate.
What You’ll Find Her
Gable Glow covers the rooms and challenges that come up most in small-space and rental living:
- Small Space & Apartment Decor — layouts, storage, and styling for tight square footage
- Budget Decor — thrifted finds, dupes, and upgrades that don’t break the bank
- Apartment Interior Design — damage-free styling techniques for renters
- Bedroom — cozy, personal spaces that still follow the lease
- Entryway — first impressions for even the smallest hallway or landing
Come As You Are
If you’re decorating a rental, working with a small footprint, or just trying to make your space feel like yours without spending a fortune, you’re exactly who this site is for. Pull up a chair, look around, and find your next project.

How This Blog Earns the Right to Be Read
Anyone can start a decor blog. Not everyone has actually lived the problem they’re writing about.
Every idea on Gable Glow comes from real trial and error, not a showroom or a stock photo shoot. If a post says a method is renter-friendly, it’s because it was tested in an actual rental, under an actual lease, with an actual security deposit on the line. If a post says something works on a budget, it’s because it was priced against a real budget, not an aspirational one.
That’s the standard here. Not just what looks good in a photo, but what actually holds up in a small space, on a real income, without losing your deposit when you move out.
